I have a rare blood type too...maybe we have the same one. I don't donate blood as there is no place here that does it. Small town. I am however an unrelated marrow donor...well, I have never done it but I am on the list to do it.

I predict that the new year has fantastic things in store for you...mark my words!!! I am psychic and always right :)

I have yet to venture out into the malls and stores, I am scared to! perhaps I'll just do a bunch of online shopping like my man did.

I earned a 2-gallon pin a few years ago--but then they changed my meds, and now they won't take my blood any more. Grrrr.

Up here, two different groups are battling for blood donations up here. One is based in the U.P., supplying U.P. hospitals, and the other is from Wisconsin. Yes, it's a blood feud. I'm a "universal donor"--anyone can use my blood--so my type is in demand, even though it's quite common. But, like I said, they won't take it now. Grrrr again.

I'm too far away from major stores, so I do my shopping on the internet. That means I don't get to enjoy the spectacle of ... what you said.

Hope 2008 is great for you (and everyone else).

We have blood drives at our high school. It really works out well. They send a van thing to us that is staffed with vampire people that happily stick needles in everyone's arm and suck blood from anyone that volunteers. It really does make it convenient and gets the kids started in the idea of giving blood.

I don't celebrate Christmas so picking fights in supermarkets doesn't see any particular spike in December. :)

I dunno what happens to people at Christmas, I really don't. Except that everyone's like me in the sense that although they know it's coming for a whole year they do nothing about it until it's too late. The difference between them and me is that while it's dawned on them and they're haring around the place panic-buying, I'm still doing nothing.

Well done re the blood. I was just getting into the swing of being a donor when I got put on my medication and had to stop. It's pretty irritating, since it was about the one useful thing I was doing in life. Hey ho. Plus I always seemed to get really good-looking and smiley nurse-ladies (or whatever they are) doing mine, so it was always a highlight of the month... :o) I was really annoyed, too, because they give you a different coloured card depending on how many times you've donated, and I really wanted to collect 'em all. I thought, well, since I never managed to get all the coloured belts in karate (or indeed any but white - I could've; I just never went for gradings and stopped going altogether fairly soon), this'd be the next-best thing, but nooo...

Heh. I think anybody getting my blood would probably love the buzz that goes with all the opiates I've got in my system....(giggle).

Really, though, I wish I could still give blood, but the Lupus nixed that. At this point, my veins are so shot that I have a mediport in just to get my bloodwork done and they have to flush that with heparin just the same.

The Xmas season sure produces some serious Grinches, eh?
